Acupuncture & Moxibustion
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a holistic therapy that involves inserting thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate natural healing. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it works by balancing the flow of energy, or "Qi," along pathways in the body known as meridians. Acupuncture can help relieve pain, reduce stress, and treat a variety of physical and emotional conditions by restoring balance and promoting overall well-being.

What is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a traditional healing practice often used alongside acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves burning dried mugwort (moxa) near specific acupuncture points to promote healing and enhance energy flow. The heat generated from moxa improves circulation and stimulates the body's natural healing processes. Moxibustion can be performed directly on the skin or indirectly by holding the burning moxa close to acupuncture points. This practice is believed to help relieve pain, digestive issues, and menstrual problems, and boost the immune system. By enhancing the effects of acupuncture, particularly for conditions that require additional warmth and stimulation, moxibustion serves as a safe and effective addition to holistic treatments.
Gua Sha
Gua sha involves using a smooth-edged tool to scrape the skin in a specific area. This technique promotes circulation, releases tension, and encourages lymphatic drainage. Gua sha can help alleviate muscle soreness, improve skin appearance, and enhance overall well-being. Like cupping, it may leave temporary redness on the skin, indicating increased blood flow.
Both practices complement acupuncture and can enhance its benefits by promoting relaxation and facilitating the body’s natural healing processes.
Cupping
Cupping and gua sha are traditional healing practices used in various cultures, particularly in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Cupping involves placing specially designed cups on the skin to create suction. This suction can help increase blood flow, relieve muscle tension, and promote healing. Cupping is often used to treat pain and inflammation. It can leave circular marks on the skin, which usually fade within a few days.

“不通则痛,通则不痛” –
“If the circulation is blocked there will be pain, if the circulation is unblocked there will be no pain.
